After proceeding to checkout, you will be prompted to enter your shipping information. Underneath this section is a form, allowing you to simply tick the vat-exempt declaration box and specify the primary long-term illness or disability that either yourself, or the person you are buying for suffers from. VAT will then automatically be removed from your order as you proceed. Charities are also exempt from paying VAT, and can do so by simply ticking the relevant box.
The answer is yes, so long as either yourself, or the person you are purchasing the goods for are chronically sick or have a disabling condition, and the goods are for personal/domestic use only. Charities are also exempt from paying VAT, and can do so by simply ticking the relevant box, and entering their charity number. This number will be quickly verified by us before dispatch of your order.
If the person the goods are intended for does not have any specific long-term medical conditions, by law they must purchase (and proceed through checkout) without applying for VAT exemption. If you have a short-term injury, or simply use the term 'old age', this would not make you eligible. Any organization that does not have a registered charity number (such as businesses) are also not exempt from paying VAT.
The next working day when ordered before 1pm. Orders made on weekends will be delivered on Tuesday.
Our 2-man team will place the box in your room of choice.
Yes, at checkout you can select engineer home delivery which adds £95 to the order and about 10 working days to the delivery time. Because the Powerchair does not require assembly, we recommend only paying for this service if you are not capable of taking a kerbside delivery and unpacking the Power Chair yourself.
A time and date for the appointment will be arranged via telephone call with yourselves approximately 3-5 working days after ordering, so please enter a phone number at checkout you will be able to answer in the days after ordering. Please note engineer delivery is only available on the English, Scottish and Welsh mainland.
On the day of delivery, the engineer will bring the Power Chair into your property, provide a demonstration, and remove all the packaging
We deliver to the Great British mainland (England, Scotland & Wales) only. We can also deliver to any GB outlying islands for an extra courier fee, please call us to check before ordering. As an example, Isle of Wight generally costs approximately £40 extra for delivery.
Yes you can collect from our premesis if you wish, just make sure you call us before ordering to arrange an appointment to come and collect. We can have your Power Chair ready to drive for you to take away with a demonstration, with or without the box as you wish.
We will offer to replace the Power Chair without quarrel, so long as you notify us within 48 hours of the Power Chair being tracked as delivered. We may also offer you a discount or to send the parts if the damage is cosmetic only, however it's your decision as to whether you accept this, or ask for a complete replacement, or collection for a full refund.
14 days starting from when the Power Chair tracks as being delivered.
Head over to our contact page and submit a message quoting your order number, return reason, and contact details, and we will respond with instructions.
Once your return is authorized, you can either:
Note that if you are returning the Power Chair because it's developed a fault within the first 14 days, the returns collection service cost is covered by ourselves. If the Power Chair develops a fault after 14 days of taking delivery, please check our excellent warranty policy on the next tab for details.
We only charge restocking fees when absolutely neccessary in the following scenarios:
Any restocking fees charged are only used for, and proportionate to, the cost of restoring a product to a resealable condition.
Please note that in line with the consumer contracts regulations, the engineer delivery option is non-refundable as it is an upgraded/paid delivery option.

With many moving parts and exposure to scrapes, bumps, hills and the weather, it's important you have a clear understanding about how you're covered in the event of a breakdown.
Warranty is included as standard for the first year, and covers something going wrong with the product. Insurance is completely optional and similar to car insurance, provides cover for accidents, such as theft, user-caused damage, and the consequences of an accident such as injury.
Free 1 Year parts & labour cover for mechanical or electrical faults.
The 'Standard' insurance option covers loss, damage, legal liability for injuring others, breakdown recovery, loss of keys, personal injury and loss of belongings, hire costs while waiting for repair, plus cover for mugging.
If you choose to opt-in when ordering, we can offer 1 month of plus insurance free of charge. Many customers choose this option as it gives peace of mind while you spend the first month getting used to your chair, in the knowledge there is no automatic renewal and therefore no unexpected direct debit when the month ends, instead the insurer, Mark Bates Ltd, will be in touch to check if you want to renew. You can view full details on the free insurance in the IPID here.
'Plus' insurance adds cover for punctures, legal cover if someone else hits you, automatic cover for any manual wheelchairs you own, pet and dental cover, and any driver using your Power Chair being automatically covered. You can view the full breakdown of the things covered by insurance in the IPID here.
Yes, up to a maximum of 5 years total, and you can also renew the warranty next year when the first year expires, in case you didn't want to add the extra cost up-front.
Powerchairs are complex machines and on average cost us £150 under our warranty scheme for each repair when you combine our collection costs (around £70 per item), another £45 on delivery when we send it back to you repaired, and around 90 mins of labour costs.
Charging this deposit only when the fault isn't obvious ensures we at least cover the collection portion of our repair costs (less than half) when no genuine fault (user error) is found. We make no profit on this and the whole deposit pays our courier for the collection job. We still cover the labour time and return carriage costs ourselves (unless user damage is discovered).
Yes, however for the same reason we describe in the repair collection deposit explanation above, the costs vary depending on whether you can bring the Power Chair to our workshop, or need it collecting and dropping off again
The Ultra Comfort Elite represents the pinnacle of folding power wheelchairs, specifically designed to bring a higher level of comfort, build quality, aesthetics and overall usefulness when compared to the many options available from other online and in-store retailers.
We are incredibly proud of this chair - Not only does it pack in the huge list of features below, but the overall balance and durability has been highly refined to the point where it is a truly practical and reliable tool - whether it's the electric recline and pull-out footrest allowing you to fully stretch out and relax, or the clever twin airline-batteries giving you more range when travelling abroad without having to buy a spare battery.
Folding powerchairs are a difficult product to get right and while many of our online competitors are focused on selling and sourcing the cheapest-made options available, the Ultra Comfort Elite has been designed to meet the needs of real powerchair users, a quality difference we're sure you'll both feel when driving, and see in the premium design once it's in your hands.
Twin quick-release 9ah batteries give you a long range while still being under the limit for airline travel.
No more kneeling down to remove the battery - Quick side release batteries can be charged on and off-board with a charger for each battery included.
Recline from 0 to 55 degrees at the press of a button, and anywhere inbetween.
Height and angle adjustable headrest included as standard. The headrest can also be removed.
Perfect if staying in one place for a period of time, allowing you to put your feet up and relieve pressure.
In addition to the joystick, you can remotely drive the chair using the included bluetooth remote.
Special honeycomb front tyres absorb impacts from kerbs and bumps.
3 Seat-to-footrest height settings: 42cm, 45cm, or 48cm.
Weighs only 12.5kg! Battery-Powered, foot operated.
Smooth driving is ensured thanks to a clever combination of chunky seat shock absorbers, pneumatic tyres, honeycomb impact-absorbing front tyres, and generous seat cushioning.
A large heavy-duty, spring-loaded clip at the back of the seat allows the chair to be easily folded and unfolded in seconds. When folded, the chair can also be easily pushed around when stood up.
We've upped the power from our brushless motors to provide 500w of power combined. This is more than you typically see on folding powerchairs and gives the chair enough torque and 'grunt' to tackle slopes and other obstacles.
We've made many revisions to ensure the best grip and stability possible for a folding chair - The tyres have been made stickier, the front castors updated to provide less turning resistance, and a revision to the overall balance of the frame.
A large under-seat storage basket allows you to carry around 8 bottles of water as a reference. Some customers also use it to hold a spare set of batteries. Order the arm-rest storage bag accessory for even more carrying capacity.
With the upgrades made to the frame, tyres, batteries and motors, this chair is quite comfortable handling inclines, where large anti-tippers are also present to help prevent a tip-back in the event of attempting a slope that's too steep.
An compact joystick provides simple controls for all the chair's functions and display for speed and battery life. The joystick's rail is now also extra-long, so it can be adjusted 5cm further out for those with long arms.
Some customers might want wider arm-rests than the standard 18 inches. For this, we can pre-install wider arm-rests for you before dispatch for £60 charge on the accessories list. The kit increases the width of the arm-rests to 20 inches.
Provided inside the toolkit is an optional lap and leg belt you can use if needed to keep yourself secure when driving. The leg belt clips in under the front of the seat and can stop the legs of those with motor issues sliding off the footplate, while the lap belt threads through the lower backrest to hold you in.
Adjustable to fit various sizes. Cannot be used at the same time as the phone holder.
Fits all sizes. Cannot be used at the same time as the cup holder.
Chunky armrest-mounted bag for storing easily accessible essentials
Includes lifting/carrying straps, as well as a large pouch for chargers & accessories.
Allows the joystick to be mounted on the backrest for carer control.
